At Haven, our approach is grounded in nature-based, play-driven learning, thoughtfully influenced by Reggio Emilia and Waldorf philosophies. We view the environment as the “third teacher,” intentionally designing spaces that invite curiosity, independence, and meaningful exploration. Natural materials, open-ended resources, and calm, aesthetically grounded classrooms encourage children to engage deeply with their surroundings and with one another.
We believe imagination is essential to development. Through unstructured outdoor play, inquiry-led projects, storytelling, and hands-on discovery, children construct knowledge through experience rather than passive instruction. Our role as educators is to observe closely, guide intentionally, and create conditions where growth unfolds organically—academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

A Day at Haven
Each day at Haven follows a thoughtful rhythm designed to balance structure, exploration, and rest.
Children begin their morning with free play, allowing for a calm and confident transition into the day. This time supports social connection, independence, and self-directed exploration. We then move into snack time and restroom routines, reinforcing healthy habits and self-care skills.
After snack, children head outdoors for immersive, nature-based play. Outdoor time is a central part of our program, encouraging movement, collaboration, problem-solving, and meaningful connection to the natural environment.
Returning indoors, we gather for Circle Time, where children engage in songs, discussion, storytelling, and shared learning experiences. From there, they move into intentional Activity Time with a STEAM focus—hands-on exploration in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics, thoughtfully adapted to their stage of development.
Midday includes lunch, followed by a quiet reading session to ease the transition into rest. Nap time allows bodies and minds to reset. Upon waking, children use the restroom again and enjoy a second snack.
The afternoon closes with free play until pick-up, giving children space to revisit interests, strengthen friendships, and end their day regulated and fulfilled.
Our Environment
At Haven, every corner of our space has been intentionally designed with children at the centre. We believe the environment is not simply where learning happens—it actively shapes it. From the materials we select to the layout of each room, our spaces are built to invite curiosity, independence, and meaningful engagement.
Our LEGO wall is one example. More than a visual feature, it encourages spatial awareness, fine motor development, engineering thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. As children design, build, and rebuild, they strengthen persistence, creativity, and logical reasoning. The large-scale format invites movement and teamwork, reinforcing that learning is both hands-on and shared.
Throughout Haven, you will find natural materials, open-ended resources, and thoughtfully arranged areas that promote focus without overstimulation. We have created an environment that feels calm, purposeful, and inspiring—because children thrive when their surroundings respect their capacity to think, create, and grow.

Enrollment
Haven welcomes children ages 12 months to 5 years, along with before and after school care for students attending Heath Elementary in North Delta. Our program operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, providing consistent, reliable care within a structured and nurturing environment.
We invite families to begin with a tour to experience our space and philosophy firsthand. From there, our enrollment process is straightforward—connect with us, complete your application, and prepare to welcome your family into the Haven community.
